15 Best Things To Do in Dubai (2026 Guide)

From the Burj Khalifa at sunset to a AED 1 abra ride across the Creek — the definitive Dubai activity guide for 2026.

Updated February 2026 9 min read Dubai, UAE

Dubai is a city of deliberate spectacle — everything is designed to impress, and mostly it succeeds. But the best Dubai experiences aren't just the expensive ones. The city has a layered history, a genuine multicultural everyday life, and a desert landscape that makes everything else seem small.

Here are 15 things worth your time in Dubai in 2026 — from free to splurge, iconic to underrated.

Things to do in Dubai 2026

Dubai rewards visitors who look beyond the Marina skyline — the city has more layers than its reputation suggests.

1. Burj Khalifa — At the Top

The world's tallest building (828m) still delivers the most dramatic urban views on earth. The observation deck on floors 124/125 — and the premium "At the Top SKY" deck on floor 148 — give perspectives that genuinely change your sense of scale.

  • Tickets: AED 149–599 depending on deck and time slot (book online for up to 30% off)
  • Best time: 30 minutes before sunset for the full transition from day to city lights
  • Book in advance — queues without a ticket are significant, and sunset slots sell out days ahead

2. Dubai Desert Safari

An afternoon/evening desert safari is the single best thing to do outside the city. Dune bashing in 4WDs, camel rides, sandboarding, and a traditional Bedouin camp dinner with live entertainment under the stars.

  • Cost: AED 150–350 per person (budget group tour); AED 600–1,500 for luxury private options
  • Duration: Usually 6 hours (3pm–9pm)
  • Book through licensed tour operators with verified TripAdvisor reviews — avoid street touts

3. Dubai Creek & Deira Souks

Old Dubai is the most interesting part of the city — and the most overlooked by tourists who stay in Marina or Downtown. Cross the Creek by abra (wooden water taxi — AED 1!) to reach the Gold Souk and Spice Souk. The Gold Souk alone has over 300 jewellery shops.

  • Abra crossing: AED 1 per person — one of the world's great cheap experiences
  • Gold Souk: Free to browse; prices are per gram (negotiate)
  • Spice Souk: Saffron, dried limes, frankincense, rose water — very affordable

4. Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood

Dubai's oldest surviving neighbourhood, dating to the 1890s. Narrow wind-tower lanes, art galleries, coffee shops, and the Dubai Museum. This is what Dubai looked like before oil — and it's genuinely beautiful.

  • Dubai Museum entry: AED 3
  • Al Fahidi itself: Free to walk; several free galleries
  • Best time: Morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat

Al Fahidi — the Dubai that existed before oil. Most tourists miss it entirely.

5. Dhow Cruise on Dubai Creek or Marina

A dinner dhow cruise combines sightseeing with food. The Creek dhow is more traditional and historical; the Marina dhow is more modern with tower views. Both include a buffet dinner and live entertainment.

  • Cost: AED 80–180 per person (Creek); AED 120–250 (Marina)
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • The Creek cruise is more atmospheric — recommended over the Marina for first-timers

6. Dubai Frame

A 150-metre picture frame straddling old and new Dubai — the historic city visible on one side, modern Dubai on the other. The glass-floored walkway at the top is genuinely vertiginous. An underrated attraction that most visitors skip.

  • Entry: AED 50 adults
  • Location: Zabeel Park, Al Jafiliya
  • Best time: Morning or late afternoon (the glass heats up in midday sun)

7. JBR Beach & Dubai Marina Walk

The Jumeirah Beach Residence waterfront is Dubai's most accessible beach area — public beach, restaurants, and a long promenade. Free to use the beach. The Marina Walk itself is a pleasant evening stroll. At sunset, some of the best free views in the city.

  • JBR Beach: Free entry
  • Marina Walk: Free, always open
  • Best time: Late afternoon into evening — the heat is manageable and the light is spectacular

8. Deira Food Scene

Deira's Al Rigga Road and surrounding streets house some of the most diverse, affordable food in Dubai — Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Iranian, and Arab restaurants serving extraordinary meals for AED 15–40. This is where Dubai's working population eats, and it's far better value than anything in the Marina.

  • Cost: AED 15–40 for a full meal
  • Highlights: Ravi Restaurant (Pakistani), Al Ustad Special Kebab (Iranian), any South Indian tiffin spot
  • Best time: Lunch (12–3pm) for the freshest food and busiest atmosphere

9. Dubai Miracle Garden

150 million flowers arranged into extraordinary sculptures, arches, and installations — including a full-scale Emirates A380 covered in flowers. Completely over-the-top and genuinely spectacular. Open October–April only (closed in summer).

  • Entry: AED 55 adults
  • Location: Al Barsha South
  • Season: October–April only — check dates before visiting

10–15: More Experiences Worth Your Time

  • 10. Global Village — October–April. Pavilions from 90+ countries with food, shopping, and performances. Entry AED 25. Excellent value.
  • 11. Dubai Opera — World-class performances in a dhow-shaped venue. Tickets AED 100–500. Check programme before visiting.
  • 12. Ski Dubai — An indoor ski slope inside a mall. Surreal and genuinely fun. Tickets AED 200–350. Good for a half-day.
  • 13. La Mer Beach — More relaxed than JBR. Good beach, independent restaurants, and a more local atmosphere. Beach access free.
  • 14. Night kayaking on Dubai Creek — Small operators offer evening kayak tours of the illuminated Creek. AED 100–180. Unusual and memorable.
  • 15. Friday Brunch — Dubai's institution. All-inclusive food and drinks (soft or hard) at hotels across the city. AED 200–500/person. Book in advance for popular venues.

Planning Tips

Visit November–March

The only time outdoor activities are comfortable. Summer (June–September) is genuinely dangerous outdoors during the day.

Book Burj Khalifa and desert safari before you arrive

Online prices are significantly lower and sunset slots sell out days in advance.

Spend a full day in Old Dubai

Al Fahidi + Creek abra + Gold Souk + Spice Souk + lunch in Deira costs almost nothing and is one of the best days you'll have.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you can only do one thing: the desert safari. It's the experience most unique to this region and context, unavailable anywhere else in the world in quite the same way. For the city itself, the Burj Khalifa at sunset is the iconic experience.
The public beaches (JBR and La Mer), Marina Walk, Al Fahidi neighbourhood, Deira souks (browsing), and Global Village admission is very low. The metro is also extremely affordable. Dubai has more free experiences than most people expect.
3–4 days covers the major experiences well: Burj Khalifa, desert safari, Old Dubai and Deira, Marina and JBR, a dhow cruise. 5–7 days allows a more relaxed pace and room for some of the day trips (Hatta, Abu Dhabi) that are worth doing.
